Our Impact
About Us
Nurses Creating Aloha was born at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic by a group of friends who were frontline nurses wanting to turn the negativity and heartache of that difficult period into something positive. We began with just a vision of spreading Aloha to anyone that needed it, be it Keiki who didn't have necessary school supplies, Kupuna that were afraid to go out in the community during the height of COVID, or women in domestic violence shelters who were simply surviving. We have joined efforts with Water Hands Hope to spread aloha here in Hawai`i.
Our Success Stories
Since 2020, we have successfully completed several projects to benefit our community, including:
- Sewing masks, headbands, and helmet pads for nurses during the pandemic
- December 2020: Collected toys for Santa's Workshop at Kapi`olani Medical Center, household goods for the Laulima Giving Project and the Giving Tree project, and food for the Hawai`i Foodbank.
- May 2021: Collected toys, hygiene products, and other necessary items for 2 domestic violence shelters.
- July 2021: Collected school supplies for homeless keiki at Pu`uhonua O Waianae.
- August 2021: Collected school supplies for Kahalu`u Elementary school
- November 2021: Collected toys, food, clothes, and hygiene products, and other necessary items for Ohia domestic violence shelter.
- December 2021: Collected gifts for veterans in need at US VETS in Kalaeloa and vets living at Matsunaga Veteran's Nursing Home
- March 2022: Collected clothing and hygiene products for Farrington High School's free store.
- June 2022: Made oncology care kits and port pillows for patients receiving chemo for the "Sherrie Berry Project" in honor of our nursing sister Sherrie Migdol
- June 2022: Donated pet food and toys to O`ahu SPCA.
- July 2022: Collected school supplies for Fern Elementary and Kalihi Waena Elementary.
- October 2022: Donated approximately 2000 pounds of food to a local church group and a youth challenge group.
- November 2022 and May 2023: Donated clothing and hygiene products for Farrington HS's free store.
- August 2023: Collected school supplies for 100 keiki at Wai`anae Elementary, 800 keiki at Leihoku Elementary, and the students and staff of Nanakuli Elementary.
- August 2023: Collected a van-load of supplies for victims of the fire in Lahaina, Maui.
Our Partnerships
We are proud to partner with a variety of organizations and businesses to support our community. Our partnerships enable us to expand our reach and provide even more resources and services to those in need.
Upcoming Events
We are planning a retreat for survivors of domestic violence to take place at the end of October. More details coming soon!
